Reducing our Carbon footprint…

From rising sea levels to changes in our health - climate change has brought about many concerns amongst us all. As a company deeply involved in Agriculture, we witness the consequences of Climate Change on a daily basis. Though there are various causes which create this change, we at Eswaran are minimizing our impact on the environment and striving to create environmental sustainability in the activities that we carry out.

Our Environment Policy  

The Eswaran Brothers team as part of its overall Ethical policy is committed to protect our environment for future generations. All aspects of our activities will be focused towards minimizing our impact, and ensuring that good, sustainable practices are promoted.

We will strive to conserve natural resources throughout our value chain by training and continuously improving our processes. We will achieve these goals through adherence to, but not limited by, the ISO 14001 standards and other applicable regulatory requirements.

We believe that our environment policy provides us guidelines and objectives which help us monitor and control our environmental impact.  This has allowed us to arrive at the final stages of offsetting our carbon footprint by calculating and reducing our carbon emissions (which contribute to global warming) to the best of our ability and offsetting the balance through investments in trusted projects. Thus, we will be Carbon Neutral by end of 2008.

We are also investing in several alternative energy resources and GREEN agriculture projects in Sri Lanka and India.

Forest Garden Teas - Beyond Organic

Traditional tea plantations may look idyllic, but they are monocultures that tolerate little else beside the tea bush. Our tea is Forest Garden Organic, grown in a certified organic plantation which recreates the biodiversity of a rainforest. The tea grows amongst a profusion of living organisms which keep the growing crop's impact on the environment to a bare minimum. This is tea as it was meant to be grown.
